801 Fish launches in Leawood’s Park Place

122413-801-FishOnce again, the great Kansas Ocean provides. 801 Fish (11615 Rosewood Street, Leawood) has opened in the Park Place development. The seafood restaurant is the latest concept from the Des Moines-based 801 Restaurant Group, which also operates the 801 Chophouse (11616 Ash Street) and Pig & Finch (11570 Ash Street) in Park Place. A second 801 Chophouse (71 E. 14th St.) is located downtown in the Power & Light District.

801 Fish is like an inland Atlantis. There’s caviar, oysters, ceviche, crudo and clams by the dozen. Landlubbers can find comfort in the beef carpaccio or KC strip, while the seafarers amongst us can delve into the linguini with clams, whole roasted branzino or grilled octopus.

The executive chef is Alex Schifman, who was last at the 801 Chophouse (you can see him here preparing mussels on KCLive). He’s also cooked at Osteria Stellina and Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill in California.

801 Fish is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 913-322-3474.
