A three-day weekend means you 24 more hours to eat and drink. Let’s not waste them.

Let’s begin with where you should take in the fireworks. KC Riverfest is today from 4 to 11 p.m. at Berkley Riverfront Park and this is where you can get up close and personal with your fellow Kansas Citians. There’s live music (catch The Zeros), food truck fare and beer. Admission is free from 4 to 5 p.m. and $5 thereafter (it’s cash only at the gate).

If you want a few less people and a lot more beer, the Big Rip Brewing Company is hosting a party tomorrow. There will be snow cones from Kona Ice, food from El Burrito Loco and the Back Rack Grill, as well as adult root beer floats. The doors open at noon. You can bring your own lawn chair and grab a nice view of the Riverfest fireworks to boot.

Prairie Village holds its 18th annual Village Fest (7700 Mission Road) today from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There’s a pancake breakfast (7:30 to 11 a.m.) with Chris Cakes, a petting zoo, live music and a pie basking contest. Admission is free.

While you stock up on tomatoes and cucumbers at the City Market, you can also see the Art of the Machine Car Series on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This week, they’re featuring Model A Fords. You can also try and find something non-edible to fall in love with at the community yard sale, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bella Patina (1324 W 12th Street) — the antique bazaar, restaurant and farmers market — is open in the West Bottoms this weekend. There are vintage goods on three floors. The farmers market stocks everything from grass fed beef to finishing salts from Wood + Salt. They’ve also got their own restaurant on the third floor. Vintage Sweets & Eats dishes up classics like biscuits and gravy, a hot roast beef sandwich and povitica bread. Embrace the Grape will be mixing drinks too, including ‘Hippie Juice,’ made with pink lemonade, berry vodka, Malibu rum and triple sec.

Bella Patina is open today from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Farmhouse (300 Delaware) has been playing around with kimchi lately. It’s made its way on to a kimchi pork burger topped with a fried egg and as a counter punch to pan-fried scallops served with black broken rice. The River Market restaurant is closed today, but will open tomorrow at 9 a.m.
