Amigoni’s anniversary party & other weekend possibilities

Amigoni Urban Winery (1505 Genessee Street) celebrates three years in the Daily Drovers Telegram Building Saturday. The anniversary party starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 7 p.m. with live music (3 to 6 p.m.), door prizes and food from ChickenHoovenSwine BBQ and Taco Republic (starting at 2:30 p.m.). They’ll also be releasing the 2013 Urban Drover ($1 off glasses, $2 off bottles).

Slap on your eating shoes, Cheese Slipper Saturday returns to Fervere (1702 Summit Street) Saturday night at 6 p.m. The line usually starts about 45 minutes before the doors open and to ensure you get a bite, you probably need to be in line by 5:30 p.m. While you wait, just send one of your party to grab a soda at Little Freshie around the corner.

Affare (1911 Main Street) added a bunch of new spring lunch dishes this past week. There’s maple glazed salmon with smoked octopus risotto and pickled ramp bulbs, a Soup and Sandwich (a cup of soup and a pork schnitzel, bacon and fried egg sandwich on house rye), and a $10 Bavarian sausage burger ($10) with sauerkraut and mustard on an egg bun and fries. Lunch is offered Tuesday through Friday.

It’s Buck Night at Kauffman Stadium tonight and the St. Louis Cardinals are in town. The allure of $1 hot dogs will hopefully never die. First pitch is 7:10 p.m. at The K.

Your beach getaway is closer than you imagine. Beaches Cantina has opened at 10004 N Ambassador Drive. The Northland restaurant has a menu with Caribbean flair cooked by Tom Harley, the chef at the former Kansas City Cafe (where Collection is now). Beaches is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The phone number is 816-599-2493.

The Kansas City Symphony’s 13th annual Celebration at the Station is Sunday at 8 p.m. at Union Station. Bring a picnic blanket and a picnic for the concert and fireworks.
