Hey, Reader. Thanks for writing us. Andy’s Frozen Custard, an import from Springfield, Missouri, arrived in Kansas City last year. Andy’s makes fresh custard every hour in two base flavors: vanilla and chocolate. That custard becomes concretes, cones, sundaes, shakes, malts, and old-fashioned sodas (custard with seltzer water). You can also get Italian ice and custard bars (custard dipped in chocolate). They rotate in fruits and flavors with the seasons — right night they’re featuring the Cookie Casanova (a warm chocolate chip cookie with custard, melted caramel and sprinkled almonds).
The first shop opened on the former site of the Terry’s Service station (1200 Westport Road) in the Westport area in June. The second opened in December 2015 at 598 NE M-291 Highway, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. It was the 28th location for Andy’s, which is now in five states. A third spot is slated to open this year (they’re hiring now) at 1000 NW 7 Highway in Blue Spring, Missouri.
