Bacon-Fest & other weekend possibilities

weekend-082215They will serve no swine before it’s time. The 7th annual Bacon-Fest (The Other Fundraiser) is Saturday, August 22, at the Ameristar Casino. The benefit for the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City has plenty of pork samples and four beer stations. Tickets are $50, which includes a t-shirt, commemorative drink cup, and unlimited drinks.

The Arts & Crafts Festival returns to the Screenland Armour tonight and tomorrow. There are movie showings and craft folks, but this one is about the killer beer lineup (including a Cinnamon Roll Porter from Big Rip). The Pitch took a deep dive into the list (read it here). Single day tickets are $35 and two-day tickets are $65.

The best part of being an adult? You can go to the beer tent and the carnival. Check out the arts and crafts, as well as live music lineup at Parkville Days — today through Sunday — at English Landing Park in Parkville, Missouri, It’s free admission.

See the world in a weekend or just an afternoon. The 36th annual Ethnic Enrichment Festival is at Swope Park today through Sunday (12 to 6 p.m.). There’s cuisine from nearly every corner of the globe. [Here’s the menu, it’s a doozy]. When in doubt, always go spicy and fatty over sweet (unless it’s mint lemonade from Israel). Admission is $3 for adults and free for those 12 and under.

Get in touch with your inner Old West at Buffalo Bill Days on Saturday and Sunday in Leavenworth, Kansas. There’s a pie eating contest, re-enactors, and Outhouse races (think soap box derby but with outhouses on wheels).

The Foundry at McCoy’s (424 Westport Road) is holding a Back to School Ice Cream Social at 6 p.m. Ice cream scoops (and these are beer-infused ice creams) are $2.50.
