Booktoberfest rolls into the Central Library in October.

File this one under B for beer. The Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library and The Recommended Daily are partnering on Booktoberfest — a series of mini brewery tours and beer tastings — inside of the Central Library (14 W 10th Street) on Friday, October 10, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Next month, you’ll travel across the floors of the library to meet brewers from the Cinder Block Brewery, Crane Brewing Company, Kansas City Bier Co., and the Rock & Run Brewery & Pub. While they tell you about the history of their breweries, you’ll get to sample some of their creations. Whether you’re a home brewer or simply a beer drinker, the small groups assembled for each tour means you’ll have ample opportunity to learn more about what’s in your glass. You’ll also get to munch on bites from the Farm to Market Bread Company, Consentino’s Downtown Market and Swoon Cookies.

The event supports a new group, Young Friends of the Kansas City Public Library, that is looking to bring together the next generation of library supporters. Tickets are $35 and benefit the Young Friends. You can purchase tickets (which include admission, beer and food samples and a commemorative tasting glass) here.
