It’s going to be a big year for the Boulevard Brewing Company. They’re launching a new Backroads beer series with Entwined Ale later this month, hosting Boulevardia (a music, food and beer festival) next month, and are in the midst of figuring out expansion plans in the wake of Duvel Moortgaat recently purchasing a majority interest.
And now, in honor of its 25th anniversary, the Boulevard Brewing Company and Odell Brewing Company are collaborating on an English Strong Ale that is slated to be released in November. Odell, which is based out of Fort Collins, Colorado, launched a day after Boulevard in November of 1989. The beer is meant to be a nod to both breweries early focus on English-style ales.
“Back in the late ‘80s, there were only a handful of us crazy enough to start our own local breweries,” said Boulevard founder John McDonald in the release announcing the collaboration. “We leaned on each other to talk through ideas, brewing techniques and distribution methods. I’ve always respected Doug’s path and – looking at what Odell Brewing has become today – I’m proud to call him a friend and colleague.”
Boulevard will release the collaboration brew in 750ml bottles and Odell will have it on tap.
