Think the best new bar in the country is in Kansas City? Then vote with your Internet hands to show it. Ca Va, Voltaire and The Kill Devil Club are all nominees for Food & Wine’s ‘The People’s Best New Bar: Midwest.‘ Ca Va is the champagne bar from Justin Norcross, chef Howard Hanna and Jim Coley, that opened in Westport this February. Voltaire, where you’ll always find lead bartender Ryan Miller, celebrated its one-year anniversary [and participated in The Recommended Daily’s Rye Whiskey & Donuts dinner] this May in the West Bottoms. The Kill Devil Club [which hosted Mixtapes & Mixology in July] debuted in September 2012 with Manifesto’s Ryan Maybee consulting on the launch.
The three Kansas City bars are in a group of 21 drinking establishments vying for the title of ‘The People’s Best.’ The public vote will determine a winner in each of five geographical regions with the top vote-getter being named the Best New Bar for the entire country. Kansas City has done well recently in the online popularity contest universe with Story’s Carl Thorne-Thomsen being named Food & Wine’s The People’s Best New Chef this April.
Voting ends on September 30 and the winners for the People’s Best New Bar contest will be announced on October 2.
