The breakfast that has ruined more productivity than the Super Bowl has come to the Northland. Cascone’s Grill North, a new breakfast and lunch spot from Frank Cascone, has opened at 6427 N Cosby Avenue.
The Kansas City Star was the first to report that a new restaurant would be opening in the former Marty’s Bar-B-Q site. Frank’s brother George Cascone will continue to operate Cascone’s Grill (17 E 5th Street) in the River Market, the cafe that has been in the neighborhood and family for more than five decades.
Those who have been to the River Market spot will find a similar menu in the Northland. The pancakes are worthy of being served in the Yukon, the Italian toast is buttered and your breakfast platter (a hubcap with eggs, crispy hashbrowns and Mendolia’s sausage) comes with a side of their red sauce for dipping. You’ll also see plenty of the Big Sam breakfast sandwich — Italian sausage, egg, cheese and hash browns on Italian toast — is named for the restaurant’s namesake and late patriarch.
Lunch [full menu here] has the classic Italian steak, meatball, and chicken parmesan sandwiches, as well as salads, pasta dishes (the cheese ravioli is a right of passage for those who grew up in KC) and a fried shrimp basket. There’s also a kids menu with pancakes, chicken strips and spaghetti.
Cascone’s Grill North is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 816-505-9999.[Image via Facebook: Cascone’s Grill North]
