Author Jonathan Bender, the founder of Recommended Daily, will be at a book signing for Cookies & Beer on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Pryde’s Kitchen (115 Westport Road) in Westport. You can buy a signed copy of the cookbook that pairs cookies and beer or just come from the free cookie samples and conversation. Both will be stellar.
Could Second Friday be a thing? Bee Sweet Ice Cream (read about their pie mochi here) is holding a pop-up at Pirate’s Bone Coffee (645 E 59th Street) tonight. They’re serving up a collaboration with Pirate’s Bone and Cafe Noble: pink peppercorn, Ethiopian Sidamo coffee coconut milk ice cream. Double Shift Brewing Company will also be there from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Colombia blond coffee stout collaboration.
It’s Franks at Frank’s for Friday the 13th….Leeway Franks will be slinging sausage at Frank’s North Star Tavern (508 Locust Street, Lawrence, Kansas) tonight starting at 7 p.m. MAW (who is debuting a new album), Old Fangled and Sugar Britches are slated to take the stage.

The Foundry (424 Westport Road) is hosting the Midwest Medal Fest beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday to honor the regional breweries who took home medals at this year’s GABF. Need some incentive to try out yoga? Studio 7 Pilates + Barre (7500 State Line Road, Prairie Village) hosts The Yogi Beer Project tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The event benefits the KC Pet Project! and features a yoga class followed by a beer from the Traveler Beer Company.
