We’re hosting a proper release party at Bier Station (120 E Gregory Boulevard) on Wednesday, October 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. You click here and pay $20. After that, we flip the switch and the party begins. With your ticket, you get a signed copy of the book by author Jonathan Bender (apologies for the third person, but it is what it is), a free short pour (4 ounces) of beer of your choice, and cookies samples from bakeries and chefs featured in the book from Andrews McMeel Publishing (that is on shelves officially October 6). That means cookies from Megan Garrelts’ kitchen, Erin Brown of Dolce Bakery, Josh and Abbey-Jo Eans of Happy Gillis, Jeff Gill from Tallgrass Brewing Company, Scott & Kate Meinke of Heirloom Bakery, Sofia Varanka Hudson of Swoon and the crew at Natasha’s Mulberry & Mott.
Cookies & Beer was the first event thrown by the Recommended Daily with cookies from Dolce and pairings designed in conjunction with Bier Station owner John Couture. It will always represent the start of this endeavor and it feels lovely that it’s become a book — one that took the same spirit and elevated it to include 40 recipes from pastry chefs and bakers from around the country.
