You don’t get many bites at Mexican-Irish fusion, but for the next 72 hours all bets are off. Frida’s Taqueria (6537 W. 119th St., Leawood) is serving up corned beef and cabbage tacos and burritas this weekend and Monday in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day. The tacos are $2.69 and the burritas (yes, it’s spelled with an ‘a’) are $6.25 and come with your choice of rice or beans.
The Big Rip Brewing Company (216 E. 9th Ave., North Kansas City) wants to serve you breakfast and lunch during its Snake Saturday celebration. There’s kegs and eggs at 8 a.m. They’re tapping their Chocolate Milk Stout at 8:30 a.m. and the Monk’s Roast Beef will be on hand selling roast beef and chicken sandwiches from 12 to 4 p.m. They’ll also have their new West Coast IPA.
Between the Big 12 tournament and St. Patrick’s Day warm-ups, downtown will have shortage of eaters and drinkers this weekend. So if you’re downtown, call Grinders (at dinner, give it an hour) and get the Show Me Pie Package. It’s a small gourmet pizza (Bengal Tiger with tandoori chicken and crab is a good pick) or large two-topping pizza with a six-pack of cold domestic beer for $25. Get in the spirit for St. Patrick’s Day with a whiskey tasting at the Celtic Ranch (404 Main Street) in Weston, Missouri, on Saturday at 3 p.m. Get a lesson in the history of Irish whiskey, learn how to taste, and sample five Irish whiskeys. The class is $35 per person and will also be offered on March 22 and April 12.
If you’re taking the holiday on Monday, the Kansas City Irish Center at Union Station (30 W. Pershing Road, Suite 70o) is hosting a parade after party from 2 to 6 p.m. They’ve now got four beer taps and they’ll be food and drinks for sale.
