It’s a food truck kinda weekend. The Kansas City Star hosts Food Truck Friday tonight at 18th and McGee from 5 to 8 p.m. (Get down there, it’s First Friday.). The Kansas Food Truck Fest is Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. in the Lawrence Warehouse District. The Blue Valley Recreation Food Truck Fest is Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at 137th and Antioch in Overland Park, Kansas.
Farmers’ market season is in full swing too. The North Kansas City Business Council Farmers Market starts today and runs through 1:30 p.m. at Caboose Park (Southeast corner of Armour and Howell). The Badseed Farmers Market (1909 McGee) kicks off its season from 4 to 9 p.m. tonight.
If you need anything for your kitchen — and we mean anything from blenders to barware — the Slow Food Kansas City Culinary Garage Sale is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Round Hill Barn (8932 Maple Circle, Overland Park, Kansas).
Firkin Fest kicks off tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Tapcade in the Screenland Crossroads (1701 McGee, Suite 200). Firkins from everybody from 4 Hands to Green Flash will be available tonight and tomorrow (also starting at 6:30 p.m.). The beer tour continues Saturday at 2 p.m. with Briarfest — with local beer tasting and live music at Briarcliff Village.
If you’ve still got energy, the Kentucky Derby is Saturday — Julep (4141 Pennsylvania Avenue) is holding its second annual Derby Party/first birthday starting at 12 p.m. — and the Brookside Art Annual is today through Sunday.
