Everything tastes better on the farm. It also probably doesn’t hurt that some of the best known chefs in Kansas City will be cooking for Green Dirt Farm’s ‘Farm Table Series,’ that kicks off on Saturday, May 3, with Room 39’s Ted Habiger (who earlier this year was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Awards’ Best Chef: Midwest). A dozen chefs will cook on weekends through October out at the Weston sheep Farm with the final dinner being created by Room 39’s Brandon Winn (the executive chef at the location in Mission Farms).
There’s typically a reception that begins around 6 p.m. and the dinner starts close to 7 p.m. There are hors d’oeuvres, Green Dirt Farm cheese and a cocktail during the reception. The dinner is a four-course meal with wine or beer pairings. The eaters in attendance share a communal table that seats 30 people inside a barn on the farm (the events are rain or shine).
The dinners are meant to showcase the farm’s lamb and dairy products (cheese and yogurt). The Local Pig’s Alex Pope will be cooking on Saturday, May 31, and Affare’s Martin Heuser is slated for Sunday, September 21, and Cafe Provence’s Philip Quillec is on tap for Friday, September 26.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, April 22, at 9 a.m. The dinners are $170 per person.[Image via Facebook: Green Dirt Farm]
