The Pizzeria — the new pizza shop from piemaker John Milone — is open at 516 West 103rd Street. The Pizzeria serves the same New York-style pies that Milone has been firing at Johnny Jo’s Pizzeria (1209 W. 47th St.) the past two years on the West Plaza.
“There’s only one Johnny Jo’s and there will only be one Johnny Jo’s,” Milone said. “But this is a Johnny Jo’s product. And I know people enjoy the product, so I want to expand.”
Back in March, Milone told The Recommended Daily, that his new joint (located in the former Rosati’s space in the same shopping center at Coach’s Bar & Grill) was a chance to return to his roots. Milone began baking pies eight years ago out of his apartment kitchen on 99th and Wornall and worked for 11 years for his godfather Leonard Mirabile at Marco Polo’s Italian Market. The Pizzeria will have whole pies and slices, but Milone is considering adding pizza knots, stromboli, pasta specials, meatball sandwiches and cannolis.
The Pizzeria will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The phone number is 816-941-4444.
