And while the clues suggested that Kaldi’s could be planning another location — there’s a La Marzorcco espresso machine inside and Kaldi’s name up on a sign out front — it’s not the case. The space at 110 E. 5th St. is being turned into a training center and office space for the St. Louis-based roaster.
Kaldi’s does have a presence in Kansas City. The roaster bought six area Lattelands in 2012. They’ve also collaborated with two St. Louis companies to create bottles that have made it into the metro: Schlafly’s Coffee Stout and Fitz’s Coffee Cola.
