Kansas City breweries take center stage at the library this week

beer-week-081015The craft beer scene is exploding in Kansas City and this week you can get a look at what’s happening now and the brews of the¬†past through two events at the Kansas City Public Library.

Author Pete Dulin (a frequent contributor to the Recommended Daily), hosts a discussion¬†tomorrow about his book, the KC Ale Trail, and the local beer scene. He’ll be joined by folks from Torn Label and Big Rip (who will also be sampling their brews) on Tuesday, August 11, at 6p.m. at the Central branch (14 W 10th Street). There’s a reception at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.

The conversation resumes Sunday, August 16, with historian Cindy Higgins talking about the breweries and brewers of Kansas in a presentation entitled, “Foam on the Range.” She’ll cover how breweries helped build community for German immigrants in the 19th century. The program at the Central library begins at 2 p.m.
