A few readers have written in to ask if Lagniappe: Nica’s Cajun Kitchen (320 Southwest Boulevard) has closed. Fear not, gumbo lovers, the situation is only temporary.

Owner Bryan Merker, who has been busy as a consulting chef for The Bite in the City Market and Foodoo (a new vegan restaurant and juice bar on Broadway) says he made the decision to shutter Lagniappe for a few weeks in July in order to make some badly needed improvements to the building. They’re fixing up the floors, sealing the wood on the patio and working on the kitchen and bar.

[Update: This morning Merker told The Pitch that Lagniappe is closed for good.] [Image via Facebook: Lagniappe]
