Mary Roach will be talking Gulp at the KC Library

maryroachgulp-040814Whether it’s a dozen wings at The Peanut or a bottle of Grinders Death Sauce, Kansas Citians are constantly testing the limits of our insides. Find out just how much you can take and exactly what happens to your meal when author Mary Roach sits down with the Kansas City Public Library’s Director of Reader Services Katie Stover to discuss her latest book, Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal.

Roach, the author of Stiff and Spook, is the rare science writer that can make the process as entertaining as the characters she uncovers. With Gulp (just out in paperback), she delves inside the human body to uncover the foundations for taste and compares our tastebuds to cats and dogs. Her KC book talk is set for Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library (14 West 10th Street). The talk is free. You can reserve your spot here.
