Great coffee usually comes with a great story. Sip on a cup of joe and hear about how a micro-roastery came to be located in a Lenexa bike shop on Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The next installment of Meet Your Maker, our new series with The Sundry (1706 Baltimore), features Vincent Rodriguez of Maps Coffee Roasters, which is tucked inside the Velo+ bike shop (where they also occasionally home brew a batch of beer).

Meet Your Maker is about connecting Kansas City with local food artisans via intimate classes. In this session, Rodriguez will be talking about the founding of Maps, the Loring Falcon (Maps’ energy efficient roaster) and his philosophy on coffee. The Sundry will then give you a small bite and a recipe for a creative way to use┬áthe sample from┬áMaps that you’ll be taking home.

We’ve also announced the schedule for this summer. Todd Zimmer of Zim’s Hot Sauce will be presenting on June 19 and Christopher Elbow of Glace is slated for July 16. Meet Your Maker: Maps Coffee is Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. inside the second floor classroom of The Sundry. Tickets are $15 and on sale now.
