Damn it feels good to be a local. When we announced that Meet Your Maker — our new set of classes/interactive lectures with The Sundry (1706 Baltimore Avenue) — we told you it would be a series. And so now, we figure we might as well let you in on the lineup. And, yeah, this is the point where you get out your calendar.
The first Meet Your Maker will be with Tyler Beckett, the founder of Hugo Tea, on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. As with all of the events in the series, he’ll be sitting down for an intimate conversation in the second floor classroom located above The Sundry about why he started his business and give insight into his process for sourcing and developing tea flavors. He’ll also lead an interactive demonstration, before you go home with a sample and some guidance from The Sundry on what you can do with tea that just might surprise you. You already have your tickets? Great, you’ll be delighted. You don’t? We’ll wait. Go ahead. Buy them here.
One other thing. If you have bought or buy a ticket to Hugo Tea, we’ll go ahead and let you buy a pair of tickets to any of the other nights in the series (detailed in this paragraph) before the rest of the buying public. We just want to say thank you for jumping on board early. If you’re interested, tell us and we’ll hold your pair.
And now on to the rest of the schedule (pro tip: each session is the third Thursday of the month). Maps Coffee founder Vincent Rodriguez will be discussing the art of small batch coffee roasting on Thursday, May 21. [Tickets for Maps Coffee’s event will go on sale at 9 a.m., April 17, a day after our event with Hugo Tea.] Zim’s Hot Sauce founder Todd Zimmer will spice things up on June 18 and Glace founder Christopher Elbow will be in house on July 18.
While we haven’t yet figured out how to make Bobblehead dolls, you will leave with special treats from each of the local food artisans in the series. Join us and Meet Your Maker, Kansas City.
