You likely know somebody that has embarked on The Whole30. The food and lifestyle program from Dallas and Melissa Hartwig is now going to be a book. The Whole30: The 30-Day Guide to Total Health and Food Freedom, is set to come out on April 21. One week later, the Hartwigs will be in Kansas City for a Living in Vitality event to talk about the book and participate in a question and answer session moderated by Dr. Megan Schlick of the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
The Whole30 program is an immersive month that has participants forgo sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes and dairy. The specific diet and instructions developed by the pair of sports nutritionists are meant to be a “reset button” for your body. The new title features more than 100 recipes, as well as resources and success stories. The couple’s first book, It Starts With Food, tapped into the Paleo movement and was a New York Times Bestseller.
The event, sponsored by SMMC and Rainy Day Books, is at the Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 W 47th Street) on Tuesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Reservations are requested, but not required.
