Mema’s Old-Fashioned Bakery (7720 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas) has a new home. The bakery that was in the Legends since 2006 has moved to Wyandotte Plaza (78th and State) in KCK. The slightly larger retail shop and production facility opened at the end of April.

While known for its apple strudel, povitica and cinnamon rolls the size of some bread loaves, Mema’s also serves savory breakfast and lunch — they’ve got a taco Tuesday special where beef or black bean tacos are 75 cents (potato or chicken tacos will run you $1). Mema’s has a second location in the Power & Light District at 1211 Main Street. The bakery began in the kitchen of owner Loraine Waldeck and is named for her mother Marion Hoffman (‘Mema’ to her grandchildren).

Mema’s in Kansas City, Kansas, is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The phone number is 913-299-9121.
