The steaks are on the grill. Morton’s Grille has opened at 4646 JC Nichols Parkway in the former M&S Grill space.
Morton’s Grille is a relatively new concept from Landry’s Inc. (the company also owns the Rainforest Cafe, McCormick & Schmick’s, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., among others). It’s a spinoff from Morton’s that is meant to be a more casual steakhouse. The first location for Morton’s Grille opened in Houston last September.
Like the inexorable expansion of candy bar flavors, restaurant groups are finding new ways to package proven brands. This version of Morton’s still has table service, albeit without the white tablecloths. And there’s the full coterie of steaks and chops, crab cakes, the Morton’s prime burger and a prime rib French dip sandwich. The appetizers, which will seem radical to Morton’s devotees, include tot’chos (tater tots under spicy beef, colby jack cheese and jalapeno), deviled eggs topped with bacon, parmesan truffle matchstick fries and Boulevard beer steamed, peel-and-eat shrimp.
Morton’s Grille is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 4 to 9 11 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday. They offer happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. (in the bar) Monday through Friday. The phone number is 816-531-7799.[Image via Facebook: Morton’s Grille]
