You’re not experiencing deja vu. It’s just that pizza, like life, is one big great circle. Papa Keno’s Pizzeria is back, Westport. Seven years after it left the space at 415 Westport Road, Papa Keno’s has returned to the scene of the slice. The Boot — a pizza and pasta concept from Aaron Confessori and Richard Wiles who own and operate the nearby Westport Cafe & Bar — was the last restaurant to occupy the space.
Papa Keno’s sells pizza pies in three sizes (14-inch, 18-inch and the 26-inch Papa Pie). They also have massive slices, big enough to fill a personal size pizza box (although they’ll ask if you want your slice “sliced” before you take it to go. They’ve got a host of daily specials and Thursday is potentially the best day to take advantage of those. On the day after Hump Day, they’ll have $5 pitchers of Pabst Blue Ribbon or a specialty slice and any pint for $7.50.
This is now the third Papa Keno’s location in the area. It joins one in Lawrence (1035 Massachusetts Street) and Overland Park (7901 Santa Fe Drive). The Westport spot will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 816-599-4704.
