weekend-121515

Think Kansas City should have bagels? So does Pistachio Bakehouse, which is holding its first pop-up this Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rosedale Development Association (1403 Southwest Boulevard). They’ll be making bagels, English muffins, flourless chocolate chewies, which are gluten-free, and sour cream coffeecakes. Check out this piece from Feast about owner and pastry chef Kolika Elle Kirk, who is looking to host a series of pop-ups before opening up her own bakery.

Really love Pabst Blue Ribbon? You’re not alone. Project PBaRT is tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. at Department Zero (111 W 20th Street) in the Crossroads. There will be PBR-inspired art from local artists, arcade games, food from Grinders and, complimentary PBR. It’s for folks 21 and over.

BadSeed is hosting its Happy Holiday Farmers’ Market (1909 McGee Street) from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight. Warm up with a dap of Irish whiskey in your coffee (alongside some whipped organic cream). Then stock up on grass-fed beef, Missouri walnuts, jams, sweet potatoes and goat cheese.

The Holy Cow Handmade Holiday Market is back for a second week because one weekend can’t contain the local awesome. Part two of the handcrafted sale is Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Holy Cow Market (3109 Gillham Road). Pick up a signed copy of Cookies & Beer, the KC Ale Trail, or a screen print or handmade jewelry.

Dust off that red coat. SantaConKC is back on Saturday at Kelly’s Westport Inn. You can register between 4 and 6 p.m. The actual crawl kicks off at 6 p.m. and winds through Westport, Waldo, Brookside and Martini Corner (transportation between the locations is provided for crawlers). Entry is $40 and the event benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

The Red Crow Brewing Company (20561 S Lone Elm Road) is hosting a canned food drive through Sunday, December 20. Bring canned goods or non-perishable food items for the Spring Hill Food Pantry and get $1 off a flight of five beers. The Big Rip Brewing Company has a chai milk stout and is currently fermenting their Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Ale, which should be out on Christmas Eve.

It doesn’t get more old school than a skating ring snack bar. After an extensive remodel, B&D Skating Rink (13903 E Noland Court, Independence, Missouri) is holding its grand opening party this Saturday. Lace them up and then. Skate rentals are $5 between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate and it’s $2.
