Feel free to stout it out loud, Overland Parkians. Rock & Brews (5701 W 135th Street) opened last night in the Prairiefire development (Wasabi Sushi Bar opens there next Tuesday, May 6).

The brewpub backed by Kiss bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley is meant to evoke a “family-friendly concert.” To that end, the menu is filled with musical references, hence the Purple Rain drops (chocolate-filled donuts drizzled with raspberry sauce) and the “Margheritaville,” pizza (with roasted tomatoes, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic butter and basil). They also serve salads, wings, sandwiches, and Kansas City BBQ Baby Back Ribs.

This is the sixth Rock & Brews — the first opened in Los Angeles in 2012. The Overland Park location will have limited hours, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., today and tomorrow. After that, it will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 913-499-6495.

Dog owners take note, dogs are welcome on the patio. Parents of two-legged children might be happy to know that a kid’s play area is in the works for the patio, as well.
