We’re reinventing the food pyramid here at The Recommended Daily. And it starts with Rye Whiskey & Donuts. Our next event, held in conjunction with the folks at the Genessee Royale Bistro (1531 Genessee) is a four-course pairing of rye whiskey and donuts on Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m.
Chefs Todd Schulte and Daniel Breedlove (we wrote about their new sausage company, Nice Sausage, earlier this year) of the West Bottoms eatery will be joined by Voltaire’s Wes Gartner (you can see RD’s profile of him here) and Cafe Europa’s Nathan Feldmiller in the kitchen. Each of the chefs will be preparing a dish inspired by donuts — they’ll also pop out into the dining room to tell you about it. They dishes could be savory or sweet, we’ve put no limitations on the chefs, other than that what they’re serving has to pair with their given whiskey.
For the event, diners will get to taste Templeton Rye, Dark Horse Distillery’s Reunion Rye (which just captured a gold medal from the American Craft Distillers Association) and we even snagged a barrel of Boulevard’s Rye-on-Rye Smokestack Series seasonal. It’s a good time with some nice food surprises.
Tickets are $40 (available here) and the seating is limited.[Cropped Donut image via Flickr: t-mizo]
