Sprouts Farmers Market (6821 W. 135th St.) will open its doors in Overland Park on Wednesday, January 8. The specialty grocer will be located in the Corbin Park development at the intersection of 135th and Metcalf. If grocers were on a scale, Sprouts likely falls somewhere between Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. It’s got a bit of a cult following like both chains, as well as its own in-house sausages, prepared meals and organic produce.
Sprouts is based out of Phoenix, Arizona. What started as a fruit stand more than 70 years ago is now a rapidly growing chain with nearly 150 stores in eight states. A second area location had been announced for the Mission Gateway development (also the potential future home of Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill), but as The Kansas City Star reported earlier this week construction has been delayed on the mixed use project in Mission.
Sprouts in Overland Park will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The phone number is 913-643-4190. [Image via Facebook: Sprouts Farmers Market – Overland Park]
