Tank 7 donuts and other weekend possibilities

Crave of KC’s loaded nachos.

Why stop with standard nachos? The Crave of KC food truck brings its loaded nachos (their chips topped with avocado cream sauce, black beans, salsa and chicken or carnitas) and tacos to The West Bottoms today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’ll be parked outside Bella Patina, a vintage shop at 1324 W. 12th St.

Three words: Tank 7 donuts. The Kansas City Star broke the news earlier this week that the Westport Ale House (4128 Broadway) will open today at 4 p.m. The former Streetside Records space has been reborn as a sports beer bar.

It’s First Friday. Chocolates are $1 at Christopher Elbow Chocolates (1819 McGee) from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight. And they’ve got peanut…butter…and…jelly…in chocolate form.

The lime rickey just grew up. The Farmhouse (300 Delaware) currently has the Cranberry Rickey — an effervescent pink-hued cocktail made with Tequila Ocho, house vanilla cardamom syrup and a cranberry shrub. The bubbles are courtesy of added Perrier.

This weekend, you can get free cheese samples and a bit of showmanship. Both area Whole Foods (6621 W. 119th St. and 7401 West 91st Street, Overland Park) will be cracking a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Cheesemongers can open the wheel, which has been aging for 24 months, in under two minutes. So you’re not looking at a huge commitment to try fresh cheese.

The Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (3614 Main Street) is holding a pasta night on Monday, March 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It’s pastas, salad, coffee and tea for $20.
