The Bite (23 E. 3rd Street) is opening tomorrow in the City Market. The restaurant will have sandwiches (the El Vez will have peanut, butter, Nutella and hickory bacon), build-your-own tamale options (match a tamale such as sweet corn or vegan potato curry and a protein like Korean BBQ pork or mushroom), and house-made ice cream sandwiches. The full menu is here.
The Bite is owned and operated by Carlos Mortera, who worked previously at Lagniappe and Beignet with chef Bryan Merker (who is consulting on The Bite), as well as at Michael Smith. [The Recommended Daily will be sitting down with Montera and Merker tomorrow morning and we’ll update this post with more details about the shop.]
The Bite is located between the Taste of Brazil and the Farm to Table Kitchen (a commissary for rent). It will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
