Strap on your dancing shoes and bring your appetite, The Brewtop Pub and Patio (6601 E 135th Street, Overland Park) is bringing live music and an oversized pork tenderloin to Overland Park. The new pub in the Corbin Park development will open on Monday, February 3.
“We try and cover all the bases, whether it’s a dad who wants to come and watch a game with his kids or somebody who wants to meet their girlfriends and go dancing,” co-owner Matt Behounek says.
Behounek and partner Robert Chisam opened the first Brewtop in the Northland (8614 N Boardwalk Avenue) in March of 2009. A second location debuted in Lee’s Summit (700 NE Woods Chapel Road) in 2011. Both venues are a cross between a sports bar and a live music joint with flat screens televisions tuned to games during the day and acts ranging from country to Dolewhite taking the stage at night.
The bar focuses on craft beer and the newest location in Corbin Park will have 24 taps. Behounek also expects Brewtop’s martinis to be popular. The kitchen, which will stay open until 1:30 a.m., will likely be cranking out pork tenderloins.
“We cut it, pound it, put it in an egg bath and hand bread it,” Behounek says of the Top Notch Tenderloin. “For lack of a better word, it’s big. It hangs over the plate, it’s an impressive dish. A lot of guys and gals will split it, but you’ll get some people who try to tackle it themselves.”
Behounek also pointed to the burgers, which are made from Angus beef and never frozen. You can get sliders or a 10 oz. burger. The Philly is topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, green peppers, Swiss cheese, and Philadelphia cream cheese. The Brewtop Breakfast Burger comes with American cheese, Canadian bacon and a sunny side up egg on egg toast. There’s also a chipotle black bean veggie burger.
Brewtop will have indoor and outdoor seating, including a rooftop patio that will open in April or May when the weather is warmer. At night, the tables inside will be pushed back to create a dance floor.
“I think we really focus on great service. We want to make sure your meal is right and we notice if your glass is empty,” Behounek says. “I’m excited to bring our venue to Overland Park.”
