The Dish is closing its doors today.

The Dish (846 S. Missouri Highway 291) will close in Liberty today after 16 years of cooking up deep dish pizza. The decision was announced on the pizza shop’s Facebook page:

“After careful consideration, Mattie and Jason Ransom have made the very difficult decision to close The Dish at the end of business today. Please know that this decision was not made lightly. For 16 years, The Dish has been a fixture in the Liberty community and an important part of so many lives. We have truly had the best employees and customers over the years. We are so thankful for your support and business.”

While the restaurant is closing, The Dish’s pies will still be available in the Kansas City area and beyond. The Liberty Tribune, which broke the story in December, reported that the Ransoms intend to focus on the manufacturing and distribution of their frozen deep dish pizzas.

The eatery will be open until 11 p.m. tonight. The phone number is 816-781-3474. Will you miss The Dish?
