weekeng-guide-103114Love the Ghostbusters? Find fellow fans of Egon Spengler at The Guild (1621 Locust) tonight. The Ghostbusters Ball — a celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary — begins at 9 p.m. The Buhs (a year-old collective that can make a dance floor shake) will play music from the soundtrack and the Stay Puft Dance Squad will perform. There will be Ecto-Cooler martinis and a costume contest. Tickets are $10.

The man who hopes you brought cake will bring the funny this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Thanks to Rainy Day Books, Comedian Jim Gaffigan will talk about his new book, Food: A Love Story, at Unity Temple (707 W 47th Street) on the Plaza. For $26, you get two tickets and an autographed copy.

The Nightmare on Waldo Street is a Halloween pub crawl tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. You can check in at The Well (7421 Broadway) or Tanner’s (7425 Broadway) and then make your way to Lew’s, Quinton’s, Charlie Hooper’s and Michael Forbes. There are costume contests and drink specials. Tickets, which include three drink vouchers, are $20 online ahead of time and a portion of the proceeds benefit Unleashed Pet Rescue.

The Pitch presents Crafts & Drafts Saturday at the Uptown Shopping Center (36th & Broadway) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s a collection of craft beers (more than 25 on hand) and craft vendors (more than 75). Admission is free.

The Power & Light District hosts the Wicked Wine Walk Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. You can listen to live music and enjoy small plates and wine tasting at seven venues (Bar Louie, Bristol, Drunken Fish, The Dubliner, Garment District, Kill Devil and Maker’s Mark) along 14th Street. Tickets are $30 ($3 of each ticket will benefit the ArtsKC Fund).

It’s time pumpkins got what they deserved. Instead of watching squirrels slowly cave in your Jack-O-Lantern, get right to the action with the Great Pumpkin Smash at the Kansas City Zoo on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The elephants are slated to take on the pumpkins at noon, while the tigers have a go at 2:30 p.m.
