Nobody in Kansas City has barbecue beef like the beef between the Crossroads and the West Bottoms. At least that’s the story we’re sticking with for the Travel Channel’s Underground BBQ Challenge.
The series, which debuts tonight, pits two pairs of self-confident ‘cuers against one another for bragging rights for their neighborhood and a $10,000 prize. Each episode of the show highlights home grill masters in famous barbecue towns from Memphis to St. Louis. Their skill is tested via an extreme barbecue challenge.
For the Kansas City episode, slated to run at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, teams from the Crossroads and West Bottoms did battle with pork butts. Host G. Garvin also paid a visit to Paradise Locker Meats in Trimble, Missouri, to grab the secret ingredient for the challenge. The teams in Kansas City were judged by Miss Kansas Theresa Vail and Port Fonda’s Patrick Ryan.
