Kansas City is well represented on The Daily Meal’s list of ‘The 101 Best Burgers in America,‘ Town Topic’s cheeseburger is at number 92 on the list and Winstead’s double cheeseburger is at number 51.
The Daily Meal believes that Town Topic’s burger will, “transport you back to a simpler time before we, as a nation, were preoccupied with the dangers of saturated fats.” As for Winstead’s, “it’s the perfect dining experience.”
The Kuma Burger (BLT, sharp cheddar and a fried egg) at Kuma’s Corner in Chicago was crowned the champion, while several other area patties got a mention. The Tap Room Burger (a sirloin burger with slaw and white cheddar) at Schlafly’s Tap Room in St. Louis, was 93rd and the Cozy Burger (a slider with onions) from the Cozy Inn in Salina, Kansas, was 58th.
In 2013, The Daily Meal ranked the top 40 burgers in America. Winstead’s Double Cheeseburger was 22nd, The Kuma Burger was 26th and the Cozy Burger was 34th. While the descriptions of the joints haven’t changed from year-to-year, the local burgers have tumbled in the rankings.
While we’re waiting for Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid to reveal his favorite, we also want to know what burgers would top your list?[Image via Facebook: Town Topic]
